Sworn translation

A sworn translation is an official translation of a document that may be required by an Estonian or foreign authority. Sworn translations are used, for example, for translating documents, extracts from registers, court judgments and notarial deeds.

A sworn translation, also known as an official translation, may be carried out by a translator who has passed the professional examination for sworn translators. This is a state-regulated system designed to ensure the quality and reliability of sworn translations. There are more than 50 sworn translators practising in Estonia. How to order a sworn translation?

• document type, language pair and translation deadline;
• whether certification by a notary or sworn translator is required;
• whether legalisation or an apostille is required;
• whether you need the translation in digital and/or hard-copy format.
